The Birsoy lab is innovating organelle-based strategies to understand the role of compartmentalized metabolism in immune cells and during infection. In particular, our lab recently innovated an ER-IP method that enables purification of ER from specific cell types. This method provides an entry point to determine how ER metabolites and proteins change in response to physiological stress conditions such as infection.
